Tutorting Mentors
Serving in a mentoring roles as a tutor role is very rewarding and beneficial to our youth. In this volunteer role, you will help children with their homework (without doing their homework for them ;-) and the various learning exercises utilized in the program. This role requires love, attention, and dedication. This volunteer opportunity is available any Monday through Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We welcome volunteers of all ages from middle school through retirement. Adminstrative Assistant
Our program receives a large portion of its funding through contributions from individuals and benefactors. We need volunteers to assist us in general office tasks to communicate with these contributors and to keep our records in an organized fashion. While serving in this role, you may utilize a computer to type letters and enter accounting information. You will also answer the telephone and make calls on behalf of LEA'S KIDS. This volunteer opportunity is available Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm or during our normal operating hours. Brochure Developer
LEA'S KIDS produces a brochure that is used to introduce our program to organizations and individuals in an effort to gain contributions and volunteers. The brochure is currently a simple two-sided 8 1/2" x 11" document that is developed in Microsoft Word. We need a volunteer who will help us keep the brochure up to date as our program and needs change. This volunteer position requires close coordination and occasional meetings with the staff of LEA'S KIDS. However, most of the volunteer work can be completed off-site by an individual who has access to a computer and e-mail either at home or elsewhere. The volunteer can also use LEA'S KIDS computer to develop and update the brochure if they wish during our normal operating hours. Sign Maker
LEA'S KIDS needs a volunteer who will take our logo and make signs for us to post outside our facility so that volunteers and visitors can find the facility and contribute to the program. This position requires coordination and with the staff of LEA'S KIDS. However, the signs can be created and assembled off-site at the convenience of the volunteer. Data Entry Assistance
LEA'S KIDS keeps a database of the donations received so that the information can reported as needed. We need a volunteer who can assist entering this information into our database. This volunteer opportunity can be combined with some of our other volunteer opportunities (e.g. Adminstrative Assistant) and is available Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm or during the program's normal operating hours. Teacher of English as a Second Language
The program at LEA'S KIDS includes participates who wish to improve their English. We are in great need of a volunteer who can work with our youth as well as their parents to improve their English speaking abilities. Most of our participants who will require assistance here utilize Spanish as their primary language. Although beneficial, it is not required that the volunteer speak the primary language of the participants. This volunteer position is available during the program's normal operating hours. Thrift Store Helper
LEA'S KIDS operates a thrift store to generate funds for the program and to provide for the community in which we operate. We need volunteers who can help us in operating and maintaining the store while ensuring it operates effeciently and effectively. Painters & Constuction Workers
LEA'S KIDS is always in need of volunteers who can assist us in improving and maintaining our facilities. Occasionally, we need major construction work. However, these volunteer positions will normally include painting and light maintenance of our facilities. If you are a tradesman, contractor, or even a "weekend handyman", we have a "honey do list" that you can help make shorter. Handout Assembler
LEA'S KIDS produces a package of information that is used to introduce our program to organizations and individuals in an effort to gain contributions. We need a volunteer who will help us keep a supply of the informational packets. This volunteer opportunity would require someone to place a logo sticker on the front of a pocket folder and then place brocures and other information inside the folder. This volunteer would also assist us in mailing the informational packets out to the appropriate individuals and benefactors. This volunteer opportunity is available Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm or during our normal operating hours.
